Galileo: Survival Moon

Challenge
For the interactive special "Survival Moon" on the television channel Galileo, the goal was to create highly realistic animations that could be seamlessly integrated into live-action footage. The aim was a visual presentation that was both technically precise and dramatically coherent.
Solution
In close collaboration with Take Film, we developed the look, dramaturgy, and animatics in parallel with filming. While Take Film handled the live-action shooting, we built upon their work, supplementing the scenes with perfectly tailored animations and visual enhancements. This close collaboration, including on-site visits, allowed us to plan and precisely execute transitions between live-action footage and CGI from the outset. Particular attention was paid to realistic surfaces, lighting, and high-quality special effects for engines, smoke, and fire.
The animations were modularly structured into individual shots and sequences to ensure maximum flexibility in editing.
Result
The result is a visually seamless blend of live-action footage and animation, lending the scenario an authentic feel. The high visual quality enhances immersion and significantly contributes to making the interactive experience intense and believable for the audience.
